Founded by William McDonough
and Michael Braungart in 1995, McDonough
Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC) is a product
and process design firm dedicated to transforming
the design of products, processes, and services worldwide.
The firm seeks to implement its founders' vision and
intention to promote and power "the Next Industrial
Revolution" through intelligent design. Employing
Cradle to Cradle DesignSM, MBDC uses eco-effective
strategies (rather than the more typical eco-efficient
approach) to create products and systems that contribute
to economic, social, and environmental prosperity.
MBDC is based in Charlottesville, Virginia, and works
with clients worldwide. The staff includes specialists
in numerous fields and a wealth of experience. MBDC
also collaborates frequently with Michael Braungart's
firm EPEA
in Hamburg, Germany, which has been developing key
strategies for material intelligence for fifteen years.
