William McDonough @ AIA Convention 2006 - (c) 2006 John Shores McDonough Discusses The Greening of the Profession at AIA 2006
"One architect among us has enlarged the range of perspective from the minutely small, at the level of the molecule, to the whole planet, challenging us to reconsider our notions of time as well." So said Robert Ivy, Editor-in-Chief of Architectural Record in introducing William McDonough before his keynote to close the recent AIA National Convention. National Museum of Science and Industry NMSI Wroughton a Contender for the People's Miliions
Mixing lottery and reality-television genres, Britain's "People's Millions" allocates cultural funding based on viewing voters' response to televised ads. This August, the National Museum of Science and Industry is one of the contenders for a £50,000 prize, funding that would advance the new NMSI Wroughton National Collection Centre. This 581,000-sf facility designed by WM+P will host its unparalleled collection of artifacts from the first Industrial Revolution. Meanwhile, NMSI Wroughton has opened. Visit during this "soft-launch" and you'll be able to say you saw it in the cradle.

WM+P Purchases Wind Power
Building upon our offset of emissions from air travel earlier this year, William McDonough + Partners has purchased renewable energy certificates (RECs) from Renewable Energy Choice, in the news recently for brokering Whole Foods' mammoth wind-power purchase. Our agreement with the Boulder, Colorado, organization allows us to make Green-e certified purchases of wind energy from Midwestern wind farms. The purchase also brings us closer to our goal of carbon neutrality. We'll keep you updated as we strive to optimize and enhance our corporate footprint.
