William McDonough Named "Big Thinker of the Year" by Esquire Sarah Schafer and Anne Underwood have offered an in-depth progress report on WM+P's work in China in the current International Edition of Newsweek. They write, "McDonough's projects in the village of Huangbaiyu and six major cities are China's biggest experiment in ecologically sound development. Honor Award for Bernheim Arboretum Visitor Center
WM+P and its collaborators at the Lexington, Kentucky-based firm of Barnette Bagley Architects, recently earned top honors in the 2005 Kentucky AIA Design Awards. The jury described the Bernheim Arboretum Visitors Center as a "project of understated elegance and admirable restraint [that] continues to unfold and reveal itself at each glance." Their comments also gave a nod to the Arboretum's primary goal of connecting people with nature, recognizing the building's "very successful response to an admirable mission.
